real-good-chair.jpgI thought that the term “skinny” is being used nowadays as a buzzword only in the worlds of fashion and weight loss. There’s apparently something called skinny jeans, which I surmise are designed for skinny people. Or maybe because they make the wearer’s legs and bottom look skinny. In any case, skinny is also something of a trend in the furniture world, because of the Real Good chair from BluDot.

But can this chair accommodate people who can’t be called skinny by any stretch of the imagination? According to the company’s web site, even if the Real Good chair is “as skinny as a supermodel,” it is far sturdier. Hmmm, did they just imply that supermodels are frail? Anyway, it does seem that this chair is ultra-thin – almost anorexic in terms of how thick the seat and back are. Thin as it is, it’s made of powder coated steel so I’m thinking that would be a major part of the chair’s sturdiness.

Another thing that’s so cool about the Real Good chair is this: the dotted lines that seem to bisect the seat and the back. These lines are actually laser cut, but it kind of looks like you can fold parts of the chair over like paper or cardboard. And guess, what, I think you actually can. It is shipped flat and folded, and all you need to do is to just unfold it and it’s ready for use. Talk about convenience. It would be a great addition to contract cafe furniture sets anywhere.

The Real Good chair measures 33 inches high, 18.5 inches wide and 18.5 inches deep. The seat height is 18 inches. It comes in four colors: ivory/grey, aqua/blue, black/black, and red/red and is priced at $99 each.
